Jim Huber
Coach Jim Huber has developed and coached some of the best players in the world, including current NBA players and elite athletes who attended top college programs such as Duke and Kentucky. With over 30 years of coaching experience at the youth, high school, and college levels, Jim's expertise and passion for basketball have left a significant mark on the sport.
Coaching Highlights
  • Jim served as an assistant and head coach at Avila University and as an assistant coach at UMKC, further broadening his impact on developing collegiate athletes.
  • ​2013 Nike Global Challenge: Led a team to a 1st place finish.
  • Nike Elite 100 Camp: Coached the top 100 high school players.
  • ​2013 Nike EYBL: Achieved #1 Team Defense and qualified for the prestigious Nike Peach Jam
  • ​​Tournaments Success: Since 2004, amassed 45 Championships, 13 Runner-up Finishes, and 26 Final Four Finishes at regional and national tournaments.
  • ​Player Development: Developed 52 collegiate players, with 32 at the Division 1 level.
Personal and Educational Background

Jim is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas, where he was a three-year varsity starter, earning honorable mention All-State honors his senior year. He then played at Allen County Community College and Avila University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication with an emphasis in Business and an MBA in Marketing.
Contributions to Youth Basketball

In 2010, Jim expanded Mokan Basketball to include programming for third through eighth grade, more than doubling the opportunities provided to area youth. As head coach of the MOKAN 17U team, he led his group to earn a spot in the Nike Peach Jam tournament.

In 2013, Jim was named Director of Coach and Camp Curriculum Development at Breakthrough Basketball. Under his leadership, Breakthrough Basketball has grown to conduct over 400 nationwide camps, reaching over 17,000 campers yearly. He has also developed highly-rated and best-selling online training products, including Man to Man Defense, The Youth Coaching System, Shooting & Scoring System, Next Level Finishing Moves, and Beginner Basketball for Ages 5-9.
